on a recent visit to the V&A i came across this photograph and i thought it was amazing, it is a castle in Germany called Schloss Elz Castle, and has been in the same family for the last 800 years. research says the reason for its fairytale appearance is the result of many different building campaigns from the 12th century onwards. this image was taken c.1860 and although it has been tidied up it still looks like this today.
i would love to see what the inside looks like, the possibilities of elaborate décor are endless; i think it should be as bold and eccentric as the building itself, with luxurious textures and huge pieces of art on the walls...what a dream job!
